The Solid Waste Authority is currently recruiting for a General Support Assistant.  This person will provide support at the Authority Office, Outlying Transfers Stations and Bass Hill Landfill.  This person must be able to provide basic general office support, work as a backup gatekeeper and Landfill general  worker.  This is a part-time (Minimum 20 hours per week) Benefitted position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

Inspect trucks and other vehicles hauling refuse to determine type, weight or volume of solid waste material · Measure the size of loads of refuse to be disposed · Operate cash register, record receipts · Identify restricted and/or hazardous materials · Answer questions and complaints from public · Clean up trash and litter,  inspect garbage for hazards · Perform Spotting/ Flagging duties · Provide office support such as answering telephones, filing, basic spreadsheet entry · Perform other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Must be at least 18 · Able to pass a background screening · Have a valid CA Driver’s License and own vehicle · Able to work a flexible and on-call schedule including most Saturdays · Willing to drive and work in outlying areas such as Herlong, Spaulding, Wendel and Westwood as well as Susanville · Able to stand for long periods of time · Ability to carry up to 35 lbs
